Antonella Lettieri translates literature,¹ non-fiction, articles, and academic writing between English and Italian. She has also been known to translate websites, contracts, one-liners, subtitles, marketing blurbs, wedding vows, instruction manuals, blogs, adverts, scripts, and anything at all really.² On top of that, she reads, writes, and consults³ on all things literature.

Antonella is a translator working between English and Italian. Her translations include Maria Grazia Calandrone’s Your Little Matter, Roberta Recchia’s All That is Left of Life, and Matteo Melchiorre’s The Duke. She was the National Centre for Writing Emerging Translator Mentee for Italian in 2023 and won first prize in the John Dryden Translation Competition in the same year. In 2024, Your Little Matter was granted the PEN Grant for the English Translation of Italian Literature.

¹ Literature is what brought me to translation in the first place, and I dreamt of becoming a literary translator ever since I first realised that so many of the stories I loved as a reader were available to me only because someone had translated them from another language. Over the last three years, my career as a literary translator has grown steadily, and I look forward to continuing to bring excellent Italian books to English-speaking readership for many years to come. If you want to browse some samples from my work, head to the Publications page for links to my most recent translations. I am also always pitching a book or two (or three or four), and I would love to tell you all about them. You can head to the Pitches page to find out more. Or maybe you have a book you are just burning to get out there? Get in touch to talk through the details.

² Over the last fourteen years, I have also been providing high-quality and accurate academic, editorial, and commercial translation and proofreading services to large and small businesses, both directly and through agencies. I am flexible, always keep to my deadlines, and can comfortably juggle multiple projects. I know my way around CAT tools, translation memories, and glossaries. Hit me up if this sounds like just the set of skills you are looking for.

³ I also work as a reader and consultant for publishers, agents, and literary scouts. I am available to read the most promising new titles or anything that has caught your eye and tell you if it’s worth your time, write reader’s reports, produce sample translations, create articles and blog posts, liaise with literary agents and publishers, and advise on promotion strategies. Do you have a book you are struggling to make sense of? Shoot me an email and we can talk  talk about it!
